Gladstone Watch Exchange

A one person watch business built around neo vintage, divers and entry level luxury, specializing in Omega, Tudor, IWC and Longines.

Approach

Five things I do differently.

I buy from auction houses, estate sales, trusted collector forums, the major online marketplaces, other dealers when the numbers work, and directly from clients.

Original condition first

Unpolished cases and original parts first. Once a case has been polished, it never comes back.

Bought on the numbers

Every purchase negotiated against current market comparables. I don't pay ask, and I walk when the numbers don't work.

Independently inspected

Anything not verifiably mint goes to my watchmaker before it's listed. Often the answer is that it needs nothing.

Insured, every time

Nothing leaves uninsured. Free hand delivery in the GTA, insured courier everywhere else.

Nothing hidden

Every mark, ding and replaced part photographed and named. You see what I saw before I bought it.

Service 01

Sourcing

You tell me the watch. I go and buy it.

Tell me the model, reference, year, condition and budget. I go and find it.

I inspect and authenticate it in hand before it reaches you. If it doesn't meet the standard we agreed, I don't buy it and you don't pay.

How it works

  1. Send the model, reference, year, condition and budget.
  2. We agree the target price and the sourcing fee before I start.
  3. Fee is paid up front to open the search; it secures your slot and covers my time.
  4. I find it, inspect it in hand, and send you photos and an honest condition report.
  5. You approve, pay the balance, and I hand it over or ship it insured.

10 to 15% of the purchase price, depending on cost and model, agreed before I start.

If I can't find one that meets the standard, the fee is returned in full.

Service 02

Consignment

You have a watch to sell. I sell it for you.

Meet me in the GTA, or just send photos. I'll tell you what it's actually worth, not what you want to hear.

I photograph it, write it up straight, and list it. You keep ownership throughout, and I'm only paid when it sells.

How it works

  1. In person meet or photos over the phone. I appraise it and we set a realistic ask.
  2. I take possession, photograph it, and list it.
  3. I field the inquiries and vet the buyers so you don't have to.
  4. It sells, you get paid, and I take 10 to 15% commission.
  5. If it hasn't sold in 60 days, you get it back, or I buy it outright at a price we agree in advance.

No listing fees, nothing owed up front. Commission comes out of the sale price only when it sells.

Delivery & shipping

How it reaches you.

GTA

Free hand delivery, and viewings by appointment.

Canada-wide

Fully insured, signature required, tracked door to door. Charged at cost.

Worldwide

DHL Express or FedEx, fully insured, about a week, for orders outside North America. Charged at cost. CBSA registered with CERS export filing, so the paperwork is my problem.

Payment

Interac e-Transfer to aidan8444@gmail.com, for a deposit or the full amount.

Direct deposit is also available through PC Financial or Tangerine, by email or phone number, and set up the same way as an e-Transfer.

For larger purchases, domestic bank transfer, international wire and wire transfer to my Wealthsimple account are all accepted. Full routing details are sent on your invoice once a purchase is confirmed, never before.

I will never email you changed banking details mid-transaction. If anything about a payment request looks different, call or message me directly before sending anything.
